Potable water

The key enhancements for potable water systems are related to the improved flexibility, a refined definition of additional calculation parameters and more insight by additional calculation values and results.

More flexibility through differentiated building use

The building usage is a parameter which greatly influences the dimensioning of potable water pipe networks. In the past, you could only define the building usage globally for the entire project. The right configuration for multi purpose buildings (e.g. Hotel plus shopping and living) could therefore be problematic.

DDS‑CAD 11 replaces the global project factor with a differentiated configuration for each calculation point. This way you can design and calculate sub networks with different settings within a single project.

Refined definition of calculation parameters

Additional calculation parameters allow for an enhanced fine-tuning of the potable water pipe network.

 Max. temperature fall PWH

The maximum temperature drop in the hot water pipe between the outlet and the circulation pipe connection point has been a fixed value until now. In DDS-CAD 11 you can define this value yourself and, for example, set a temperature drop of >2K for systems with top distribution.

 Max. waiting time

You can define the maximum time that may elapse from the complete opening of the extraction point to the discharge of hot water.

Additional calculation results for optimizing the pipe network

The potable water pipe network calculation is gaining significance. With the waiting time for hot waterCollapsed and the maximum stagnant water volumeCollapsed you have additional guidances for optimizing the potable water pipe network.

DDS-CAD 11 automatically reports whenever values are exceeding when starting the pipe network calculation. In the pipe network table we show the calculated values, the limit violations are clearly highlighted and calculated values are automatically included in the report.
