Move Area

With the function Move Area you can move all coordinates within one or more areas together in the same direction and the same distance. The relationship between coordinates within and outside the range of motion is preserved during the operation. Objects on the basis of polylines are distorted at the position corresponding to the moved area. Animation

Example

Suppose you have created a building model based on a floor plan. You receive a changed floor plan, in which walls have been moved.

The function Move Area moves the coordinates within one or more move areas together in the same direction and by the same distance.Animation

Workflow

After selecting the function to define on or more move areas in the model. Next, determine the reference point for the movement and finally the target point.

Define move area

A rectangular move area can be determined by defining the diagonal corners by clicking .

The relationship between the coordinates within and outside the move area is preserved. Please observe the following instructions:

Include only the coordinates that need to be moved.

In the example a corner is included that should not be moved.

Include all coordinates that need to be moved.

In the example a corner that should be moved is not included.

You can define multiple move areas.

A single move area can include objects that should not be moved. In this case you can define multiple move areas.

For the first move area

Determine the diagonal of a rectangle by clicking .

For other move areas

Press and hold  [Shift]+[Space]Dummy and repeat the step. When you have defined all the required move areas, release the keys and run the following step.Animation

You can perform this operation step by step.

In complex situations you can achieve the same result by a step by step approach. In the example, the operation was performed twice (for each individual move area).

Determine a reference point for the movement

Click on the position for which the destination is the easiest. The cursor drags a dynamic line.

Determine target position or displacement distance

You can either specify the new location of the selected reference points or enter the distance of the movement.

Click .The objects in the move areas are shifted so that the selected reference point is located on the indicated position by clicking .

Enter as coordinates   [0]

Press [0] The dialog appears: Absolute Position Enter the absolute coordinates of the target position. Click OK.The objects in the move areas are shifted so that the selected reference point is located on the specified position in the global coordinate system.

Define displacement distance

Move along the axes   []/[]/[]/[]

Press  []/[]/[]/[] The dialog appears: Absolute Position Enter the distance without prefix. Click OK.The objects in the move areas are moved by the corresponding distance in the selected direction.

Move by relative coordinates   [8]

Press [8] The dialog appears: X/Y/Z Coordinates Enter the X and Y distance between the current position of the reference point and the position of the target point. Note the effect of the prefix, it determines the direction of the movement. Click OK.The objects in the move area are moved according to the input.

Move by angle and absolute distance   [9]

Press [9] The dialog appears: Distance and Angle Enter the absolute length of the displacement distance (Distance) and the direction (Rotation around the Z axis). Click OK.The objects in the move area are moved according to the input.
