DWG and DXF

DWG and DXF are the standard formats for the exchange of drawings between different CAD systems. In DDS-CAD you can integrate these files through an external reference directly into the model, and use them for continuing your work. Substantive changes will be made by using the integrated DWG/DXF editor.

Note to working with floor plans

Make sure that the storeys are arranged logically in the project manager. For each storey the floor plan must be imported in the correct scale, the floor plan of all storeys must relate to each other in the correct position. For verification and editing several steps are required.

Import at the start of a project

Perform the following steps for each storey systematically. Start with the reference storey.

Import to changes

The adoption of an amended floor plan into the current project is a frequently recurring action, where you perform the same actions as in the beginning of the project (step 1-5). After that a visual comparison is possible, by which you can set the arrangements of the floor plans (in fore and background). To complete the operation you can hide or permanently remove the old layout from the model.

Note to export

At different times, you give your planning results to other project participants. For this you export the model as a drawing to the DWG/DXF file format. The different recipients may have different demands concerning the actual output. Therefore you define the behaviour of the imported file for the export of the model.
