Ventilation zone

Structural level in the heat load calculation in accordance with EN 12831-1:2017.

Definition EN 12831-1:2017

Group of rooms which, in accordance with their design, have a direct or indirect air connection (through other rooms which lie in between); e.g. through overflow air terminal devices/shortened door leaves, etc.

Hints

A building entity is automatically considered one ventilation zone as long as no separate ventilation zones have been defined.
The rooms of a ventilation zone can only be located within a joint building entity.

Ventilation system

Setting in the dialog Building, Tab Air Flow Requirements; Selection of a system for the ventilation and air extraction for rooms in the building zone.

Setting	Effect
VAC	In the determination of the volume flow rate, each room and each medium is considered individually. A change (of the volume flow rate) in a room causes no changes in other rooms.
Residential ventilation	The ventilation system operates in a balanced state between the media supply air and extract air. This means that the sums of the air flow rates of both media are of the same magnitude within a use unit. The calculation is done according to DIN 1946-6. Afterwards, all of the rooms of a use unit are in context. A change (of the volume flow rate) in a room causes changes in other rooms of the same use unit.
Toilet Extract only	The ventilation zone is given a ventilation system for rooms with the setting Ventilation type=Extract. All other rooms are not connected to a ventilation system. Important! To ensure a correct heat load calculation, select for all other rooms Ventilation type=Natural ventilation,
Natural ventilation	The building zone does not contain a ventilation system.
