Divide the building

When planning a ventilation system, you must mark as a single unit all those rooms which are to be part of the sphere of influence of the respective system. DDS‑CAD requires this grouping for the calculation of the volumetric flow rates.

Workflow

Define ventilation system type

You can assign a technical system to each ventilation zone. The type of the system determines the calculation of the air flow rates in the ventilation zone.

1. Start the function Building .
   The dialog appears.
   

   Building

   Select the function in Main Toolbar

   VAC

   In the determination of the volume flow rate, each room and each medium is considered individually. A change (of the volume flow rate) in a room causes no changes in other rooms.

   Residential ventilation

   The ventilation system operates in a balanced state between the media supply air and extract air. This means that the sums of the air flow rates of both media are of the same magnitude within a use unit.

   The calculation is done according to DIN 1946-6. Afterwards, all of the rooms of a use unit are in context. A change (of the volume flow rate) in a room causes changes in other rooms of the same use unit.

   Toilet Extract only

   The ventilation zone is given a ventilation system for rooms with the setting Ventilation type=Extract air. All other rooms are not connected to a ventilation system.

   Assign rooms with no connection to the ventilation system one of the following settings in Ventilation type:

   • Natural ventilation
   • Transfer air

   Natural ventilation

   The building zone does not contain a ventilation system.

4. Click OK. The dialog is closed. You can continue with the next step.

Check Ventilation type parameter for rooms.

The Ventilation type parameter defines the behavior of a room in terms of ventilation and influences the distribution of the air flow rates in the building. Ensure that the settings are correct for all rooms.

The procedure is determined by the ventilation system selected.
