Example

Suppose you need to change a complex section of a pipe system. In this case, you can temporarily convert the pipe system to a polyline and use its editing features.

Workflow

A pipe system is a construction of multiple interconnected objects (in this case segments and bends). With the conversion you convert all individual objects into a single object with flexible contours.

  1. Select the section that needs to be edited. Closed More

    Using your mouse, you can select individual of multiple objects for editing. If you have selected objects unintentionally, you can deselect them.

    Note

    You can combine these operations together. To do so, press and hold [Ctrl].

    Select Objects

    1. Click at an object that is not selected yet. The object is selected.

    1. Click and hold .
    2. Move the mouse to the bottom right. The cursor creates a rectangle (red dashed line).
    3. Release the mouse button. All touched objects are selected.

    1. Click and hold .
    2. Move your mouse to the top right. The cursor creates a rectangle (red solid line).
    3. Release the mouse button. All objects completely within are selected.

    Deselect

    1. Press and hold [Ctrl].
    2. Click on a selected object. The selection is cancelled.

    1. Click and hold .
    2. Move the mouse to the bottom left. The cursor creates a rectangle (green dashed line).
    3. Release the mouse button. All objects inside or touched by the selection window are deselected.

    1. Click and hold .
    2. Move the mouse to top left. The cursor creates a rectangle (green solid line).
    3. Release the mouse button. All objects inside the selection window are deselected.

    Starting from any segment, you can select the pipe system over its entire course between the start and end point. Sub branches will not be included.

    1. Select a segment by clicking .
    2. Click . The context menu appears.
    3. Select: Expand Selection to Complete Flow Path Section
      The pipe system is selected over its entire course between the start and end point. You can perform the operation for processing.

    Starting from a selected segment, you can select the further course of the pipe system including its sub branches.

    1. Select the segment by clicking .
    2. Click . The context menu appears.
    3. Select: Expand Selection to All Sub Branches That Follow
      From the selected segment, the further course of the pipe system is selected including sub branches. You can perform the operation for processing.

  2. Click . The context menu appears.

  3. Select: Advanced Start edit
    The selected section behaves like a polyline. You can define the new route.

  1. Select the polyline by clicking .
    The nodes appear as a filled square .
    An open square     appears in the middle of the segments.

  2. Edit the nodes and segments.

Point to the node , it turns green .

  • Click to start the functionMove Node .
  • Clicking opens the context menu with a selection of other editing functions.

The selected node is dynamically moved by the cursor and can be fixed by clicking .

The cursor moves the ends of the adjacent segments. The color can be black or red.ClosedMore

The selected node is deleted and the two adjacent nodes are connected by a straight segment.

Point to the node of the segment , it turns green .

  • Click to start the function Insert Node.
  • Clicking opens the context menu with a selection of other editing functions.

The center point of the selected segment is converted into a node and is attached to the cursor. One click inserts a new node, the function remains active. You can insert additional nodes or quit the function with [ESC].

The cursor moves the moveable ends of the new sub segments. The color can be black or red.ClosedMore

The selected segment is moved parallel with the cursor and is fixed by clicking .

For further work in the pipe system you can convert the edited section back to objects.

  1. Click on the polyline. The context menu appears.
  2. Select: Stop edit
    The operation is finished.
