Divide the building

You can assign multiple rooms to a higher-level structure, regardless of their storey or area affiliation, and thus differentiate them from other rooms. You divide the building into zones of different types.

Assign rooms to a common zone if they match in terms of the respective criterion. Separate rooms into different zones if they differ in terms of the respective criterion.

A room can belong to one zone of every type, but not to more than one zone of the same type.

Structuring of the building according to ventilation aspects for the following cases:

A building entity for the purposes of the heating load calculation contains several ventilation zones which must be considered separately.
A residential building contains several usage units in terms of living-space ventilation.
In a non-residential building, several ventilation systems are employed.

The cooling load calculation does NOT require the building to be structured into ventilation zones. However, the presence of ventilation zones allows:

An improved overview in ESBO when selecting the rooms to be calculated
Consideration of different ventilation and cooling concepts
Calculation of the annual consumption

You can define additional ventilation zones if this does not cause a conflict with one of the Closed main functions.

Structuring of the building according to Closed room types for the cooling load calculation.

With regard to the cooling load calculation, rooms can be differentiated according to the requirements of the interior climate, internal heat sources and their temporal activity.

Each value configuration of these parameters characterizes a room type for the cooling load calculation.

Important!

The name of a zone of this type must match the name of a room type from the ESBO building template.

Identical names ensure the automatic assignment of rooms in ESBO.

Example

Suppose you want to structure the building and categorize rooms according to different criteria.

Workflow

Define the zone type:
Click +.
In Zones a new entry appears with the name New Zone. DDS-CAD expects the entry of a new name.
Insert name.
Check the settings.
Pen
Settings for display in the model.

Double clicking on the cell opens the Attributes dialog. You can assign a specific layer and a different pen to the zone. More
Layer

By default, all zones of the same type are assigned to the same layer. The name of the type is also the name of the layer. You can further differentiate the layer assignment of the zones and place each zone on its own layer.

Pen

By default, each zone has its own pen. If necessary, you can select another pen.
1. Select the cell Pen with a double-click .
  The dialog appears: Attributes
2. In Layer and in Pen the entries Zone 01 to Zone 10 are prepared.

Example

A room can belong to several zones of different types e.g.:

Rentable unit
Fire zones
Rooms that are electrically powered by the same distribution board
Combination of rooms in a usage unit for a pipe network calculation (potable water)

If the character of a room changes, it may also be necessary to separate it from a zone.

Workflow

In select the entry to which rooms are to be assigned or from which they are to be removed. Zones
Click Add/remove rooms. The dialog is closed. The cursor appears as a crosshair.
Current storeys:

Click in the desired rooms one after the other.
A room is assigned to the zone (if it is not already part of it).
A room is removed from the zone (if it belongs to the zone).

Go to adjacent storey:
- Click . The context menu appears.
- Select:
  Continue in storey above/Continue in storey below.
  DDS-CAD opens the adjacent storey.
- Continue your work.
To end the operation, press [ESC]. The dialog will appear again.

Example

It is not possible to change the type of a zone later on.

If you applied the wrong type to several rooms, you can copy the zone and redefine the type while doing so.

Workflow

Select the row by clicking . The context menu appears.
Select:
CopyThe dialog appears: Select zone type
Choose the correct type.
Click OK.
The copy appears in the table with the name New Zone, the selected type and the assigned rooms in the table.
To correct the name:
ClickNew Zone. You can change the name.

Example

Suppose, you have defined one or more zones too much. You can delete these entries.

Workflow

Click on the unnecessary entry in . Zones
The context menu appears.
Select: Delete
A confirmation prompt appears. After confirmation, the operation is terminated.

Example

You can control the visibility and visual properties of zones in the model.

Activate the desired type.

Layer
