Help geometry with respect to a reference line

Group of geometric features and characters that are visible on the screen only. Help geometry will not be printed or exported. Use these functions to determine, for example, an intersection or to define a reference point. The various functions are divided into three different groups.

• Help geometry with respect to points or cursor position
• Help geometry with respect to a reference line
• Help geometry with respect to reference circle/arc

Extend as Help Line

The function generates a help line that acts identical to the selected reference line.

Animation

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Additionally, press [2] The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Extend as Help Line The operation is finished.

Normal Help Line

The function generates a perpendicular line to the active line. The final position can be specified by clicking .

Animation

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Additionally, press [1] The cursor moves a line that is perpendicular to the previously selected reference line. Insert the help line by clicking .The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Normal Help Line The cursor moves a line that is perpendicular to the previously selected reference line. Insert the help line by clicking .The operation is finished.

Repeat Last Help Geometry

This function creates a parallel to the active line. The distance is defined by the previously executed operation .

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Additionally, press [7] The help line appears at a defined distance from the selected reference line. With the cursor you can select at which side of the reference line it should be positioned. Insert the help line by clicking .The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Repeat Last Help Geometry The help line appears at a defined distance from the selected reference line. With the cursor you can select at which side of the reference line it should be positioned. Insert the help line by clicking .The operation is finished.

Parallel Help Line (Dynamic)

This function creates a parallel to the active line. The distance is defined by clicking .

Additionally, press [3] The cursor has attached a moveable line which moves in parallel to the previously selected reference line. Insert the help line by clicking .The operation is finished. Select: Parallel Help Line (Dynamic) The cursor has attached a moveable line which moves in parallel to the previously selected reference line. Parallel Help Line

This function creates a parallel to the active line. The distance is queried.

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Additionally, press [4] The dialog appears: Parallel Help Line Insert the distance. Click Choose side. The help line appears at a defined distance from the selected reference line. With the cursor you can select at which side of the reference line it should be positioned. Insert the help line by clicking .The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Parallel Help Line The dialog appears. Insert the distance. Click Choose side. The help line appears at a defined distance from the selected reference line. With the cursor you can select at which side of the reference line it should be positioned. Insert the help line by clicking .The operation is finished.

Parallel Lines

The function generates parallel help lines with equal intervals between the reference line and the next point to be determined.

Animation

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Additionally, press [6] At the center of the selected reference line a dynamic line starts, which is moved by the cursor. Define the range for the parallel lines by clicking . The dialog appears: Parallel Lines Insert the distance. Click OK. The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold   [Ctrl]. Point to the line of interest. The line is highlighted. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Parallel Lines At the center of the selected reference line a dynamic line starts, which is moved by the cursor. Define the range for the parallel lines by clicking . The dialog appears. Insert the distance. Click OK. The operation is finished.

Construct Circle Bounded by Geometry

The function creates a circle tangent between the selected geometric figure (e.g. between intersecting lines).

Animation

Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Construct Circle Bounded by Geometry The dialog appears: Construct Circle Enter the radius. Click OK. Click on the first figure of interest. Click on the second figure of interest. DDS-CAD calculates the possible positions for a circle with the specific radius from the selected figures. You can determine the position of the circle with the cursor. Fix the circle at the desired position with a click . The operation is finished.
