Help geometry with respect to points or cursor position

Group of geometric features and characters that are visible on the screen only. Help geometry will not be printed or exported. Use these functions to determine, for example, an intersection or to define a reference point. The various functions are divided into three different groups.

• Help geometry with respect to points or cursor position
• Help geometry with respect to a reference line
• Help geometry with respect to reference circle/arc

Vertical Help Line

The function creates a vertical help line through the cursor position.

Animation

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position through which a vertical help line should run. Additionally, press  [V] The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position through which a vertical help line should run. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Vertical Help LineThe operation is finished.

Horizontal Help Line

The function creates a horizontal help line through the cursor position.

Animation

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position through which a horizontal help line should run through. Additionally, press  [H] The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position through which a horizontal help line should run through. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Horizontal Help LineThe operation is finished.

Help Line from Angle

This function creates a help line through the cursor position and asks for the inclination angle.

Animation

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position through which a line should be running. Additionally, press  [1] The dialog appears: Help Line from Angle Enter the value for the tilt angle. Click OK. The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position through which a line should be running. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Help Line from AngleThe dialog appears. Enter the value for the tilt angle. Click OK. The operation is finished.

Help Line as Tangent to Arc

The function creates a help line from the cursor position tangent to a circle or arc that needs to be selected.

Animation

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position through which a line should be running. Additionally, press  [3] The information line shows:  Locate circle Point to the side of the circle where the tangent is to be created. The active circle is highlighted. A temporary help line indicates the position of the tangent. Click . The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position through which a line should be running. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Help Line as Tangent to ArcThe information line shows:  Locate circle Point to the side of the circle where the tangent is to be created. The active circle is highlighted. Draw Help Line from This Point

The function creates a help line through the current cursor position and a point that needs to be determined .

Help Circle from Two Additional Points

The function draws a circle at the cursor position and two further points to be determined /.

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the first position through which the circle should run. Additionally, press  [7] The cursor drags the end of a dynamic line. The information line shows:   [Click Left]=Second point Click on the second position through which the circle should run. The information line shows:  Choose third circle point Click on the third position through which the circle should run. The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the first position through which the circle should run. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Help Circle from Two Additional PointsThe cursor drags the end of a dynamic line. The information line shows:  [Click Left]=Second point Click on the second position through which the circle should run. The information line shows:  Choose third circle point Click on the third position through which the circle should run. The operation is finished.

Help Circle from Point and Radius

The function draws a circle through the cursor position and another point that needs to be determined . The radius of the circle is queried.

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the first position through which the circle should run. Additionally, press  [5] The cursor drags the end of a dynamic line. The information line shows:  [Click Left]=Second point Click on the second position through which the circle should run. The dialog appears: Circle Enter the radius. Click OK. The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the first position through which the circle should run. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Help Circle from Point and RadiusThe cursor drags the end of a dynamic line. The information line shows:  [Click Left]=Second point Click on the second position through which the circle should run. The dialog appears: Circle Enter the radius. Click OK. Distance as Radius

The function draws a circle around the cursor position. You can enter the radius or define it by clicking .

Animation

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position for the center of the circle. Additionally, press  [4] The dialog appears: Circle At the same time you can determine the radius of the circle by moving the mouse. Fix the circle by clicking on or enter the radius and click OK. The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the position for the center of the circle. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Distance as RadiusThe dialog appears: Circle At the same time you can determine the radius of the circle by moving the mouse. Fix the circle by clicking on or enter the radius and click OK. The operation is finished.

Construct Circle Bounded by Geometry

The function creates a circle tangent between the selected geometric figure (e.g. between intersecting lines).

Animation

Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Construct Circle Bounded by GeometryThe dialog appears: Construct Circle Enter the radius. Click OK. Click on the first figure of interest. Click on the second figure of interest. DDS-CAD calculates the possible positions for a circle with the specific radius from the selected figures. You can determine the position of the circle with the cursor. Fix the circle at the desired position with a click . The operation is finished.

Help Points between This and Next Point

The function divides the section in equal length sections between the cursor position and another point to be determined.

Animation

Application via keyboard keys Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the first end point of the line of interest. Additionally, press  [6] The cursor drags the end of a dynamic line. Click on the second end point of the line of interest. The dialog appears: Help Points between This and Next Point Enter the desired number of sections. Click OK. The operation is finished. Application via the context menu Press and hold  [Shift]. Point to the first end point of the line of interest. Click . The context menu appears. Select: Help Points between This and Next PointThe cursor drags the end of a dynamic line. Click on the second end point of the line of interest. The dialog appears: Help Points between This and Next Point Enter the desired number of sections. Click OK. The operation is finished.
